StackSwap team’s response plan due to delay in Nakamoto update activation

The Nakamoto upgrade of the Stacks blockchain has been delayed from its scheduled activation schedule. The Stacks Foundation has announced an additional 8 weeks of development time (after which a second hard fork containing Nakamoto’s features will be tested and considered for activation), with activation starting on August 28th.

This upgrade will include various improvements, including improving miner resilience to signature timeouts and incorrect responses from signers, improving signer responsiveness and handling processes for key loss scenarios, and improving the way miners’ tenure extensions are created and handled.

More details can be found on GitHub.

The StackSwap team will monitor the Nakamoto update situation and strive to ensure platform stability as follows.

1. Regarding strengthening the signer resilience/recovery system: The delay in this Nakamoto update is due to strengthening the signer resilience and recovery system. Changes in the signer system may affect the stability of the functions most frequently used by users, such as swaps and liquidity provision, so we will closely examine changes in the system after the update and review the scope of application.

2. Check update and test schedule: Nakamoto activation is scheduled for August 28th, but we plan to prepare for unexpected updates such as additional delays or shortening. The StackSwap team will carefully check the schedule, lead stable platform operation in accordance with existing policies and operating guidelines until the update is completed, and actively communicate with the community about any changes.

Additionally, the following features, which could have been temporarily suspended on StackSwap due to the postponement of the Nakamoto update, will operate as before.

  • Issuance of new tokens through Launchpad
  • Regarding LP and staking rewards

We know there is a lot of concern in the community due to the delayed update. However, since security and safety must be the top priority when upgrading the network, we once again ask for the understanding and support of community members.

The StackSwap team strongly supports the Stacks Foundation’s decision to postpone upgrades to ensure stable updates.
